Did I really give her that for Christmas?
The other day I was at Porta looking for a new blanket for our bed. We have a huge duvet cover without a matching blanket, which I bought while I was home in the US a couple of years ago. It’s 240 X 220cm, and it seems here the biggest size that is available is a 200 x 200cm. But Porta was the biggest place nearby, and I thought I might get lucky. But I wasn’t, they didn’t have the blanket, however I was amazed to see that Porta already had Christmas decorations out! It’s only the beginning of October! I really couldn’t believe it.
That got me thinking about Christmas, and I remember one Christmas in particular…. my girlfriend and I had moved from Michigan to Maryland together, as I was starting graduate school there in the fall. It was, for both of us, the first Christmas away from home in our lives, and needless to say it was a bit emotional. I don’t know how in the world I came up with the idea for what I was about to give her. I think we needed one, and I think that in principle she wanted one. I know that every man knows this gift is totally out of the question. But I did it anyway. It was a vacuum cleaner. And, yes, she was crying on Christmas. I felt really bad about it back then and I don’t know what I was thinking! I learned my lesson, though, and nothing like that will ever happen again.
I always have a hard time coming up with good ideas for Christmas. I usually find something, but it’s hard to come up with a present that really means something. Your spouse might really like the new clothes you bought, or the new TV you’ve both been thinking about, but it somehow misses the point when it comes to what Christmas is all about. Being together, celebrating your lives together, loving each other. This is something I really try to show in my couple portrait photography - the relationship you and your spouse have together. So I have a question for you…. when was the last time you’ve had professional portraits created of you and your spouse? Portraits which really captured the love and emotion you have for each other. Was it on your wedding day all those years ago? Wouldn’t it be a great idea to create new portraits today, which you can enjoy for all the years yet to come? Wouldn’t it be nice to give a gift this year, which you’ll enjoy for years to come, a gift which really captures the spirit of what Christmas is all about?
Now is a really great time to have professional portraits created. The weather is still warm and there are plenty of sunny days that we can take advantage of. The leaves on the trees are changing color and this makes for a really beautiful setting to capture the love and emotion that you feel for each other. But the wonderful color doesn’t last long, so contact me today to reserve your appointment. For a limited time, in combination with Family Portrait Month, I’m offering 50% off of the creation fee for couples. One really special thing about me is my guarantee. I guarantee that you will be THRILLED with your portraits. If you’re not thrilled I’ll do whatever it takes to make you thrilled, including creating additional images, at no extra cost to you. If you still aren’t thrilled, I’ll refund all of your money, no hard feelings.
Why do I offer this guarantee? Because I think it’s important to stand behind my work. You are very important to me. I hope that the first time we create something special together will not be the last, and I strive to provide you not only wonderful images, but a wonderful experience, both before, during, and after our appointment. I follow up with my clients, after their portraits are displayed proudly on their walls, and I ask them, as I will ask you, to be sure that I didn’t miss anything, or if there isn’t something else that I can still do for them. If there is, I promise you that I will take care it’s done!
