Solvejg
On Friday Solvejg & I met to take some pictures in the Planten un Blomen park in Hamburg by the Dammtor train station. Actually it’s funny you can see the Japanese garden on their home page, which is where we took some of the pictures. Which, by the way, turned out really nice!
Science Photography Contest
Last week I worked on an idea for an image to enter in the Deutscher Preis für Wissenschaftsfotografie with a photographer friend of mine Aldo Dall’Aglio. Here is Matthias Müller, a Diploma student at the Astrophysikalisches Institut Potsdam, with the telescope in the central dome of the main building.
Our 2nd Anniversary
My beautiful wife Franziska and I were very happy to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary last Tuesday! We did it in style on the Havel in Potsdam. We rented a boat from Huckelberry’s which is based out of Potsdam. We’ve done a few canoe tours in Brandenburg, and had seen these little house boats a couple of times, and thought it looked like a good time. Franziska was able to get us a student discount rate of about 100 Euro for an overnight trip. Here we go!!!
Above is Franziska doing her job as captain. You can’t see from this shot, but she is at the back of the boat, doing the driving. The motor is at the back, so somebody is always back there when you are moving. We had nice weather, warm enough to swim. But not too warm… I love the picture below of Franziska getting ready for a dip. She looks so peaceful, but the water was a bit chilly and she was pretty reluctant to get in.
Above is the Kleine Schloss in Park Babelsberg. Actually I last year I was the photographer for the wedding of Marko & Kristin, and they had their party here. It was nice to see the Schloss from the river on such a beautiful day. For our 2nd anniversary portrait below we put the camera on self timer mode and set it on the roof of the boat. The light was nice and soft as the sun was going down and this picture is one we’ll have forever.
Dresden Sunsets & Franziska
In Dresden this weekend we got to to see a pretty spectacular sunset go down while I clicked away. Even though I had my camera it was pretty romantic to see what is already a pretty spectacular site, in this kind of light.
I also convinced Franziska to pose for a couple of quick shots (it’s not so easy to convince her!) and one more nice sunset to round things out.
