Deutsch Kurs Abschlussfeiren!
Wednesday night everyone from my German class came over to hang out and put to good use all of the hard work we did this semester learning German! Almost everyone was able to make it, and I think we all had a great time. Everyone brought some kind of food or drink which was supposed to be typical of the country from which they came, and all of the food was really good. Well, I hope to see some of you again soon who will be in Germany a while longer. Goodbye and good luck to everyone else who will be heading home after this semester!

Franziska’s 27th Birthday
Happy number 27 Franziska! Here are some snapshots of Franziska opening the presents I got for her. A new skirt and shirt, Camelback for mountain biking, a necklace, and a cool little hedgehog that walks down a ramp. He was the big hit, I think. Whoever came up with it is very creative.

Franziska’s Star of Bethleham Talk
Franziska gave a really nice talk in the church in Oelsa about the star of Bethleham. At least everyone seemed to like it. I didn’t actually understand very much because it was in German. But, I did manage to contribute by helping out with the computer and beamer, along with Claudia. The talk was about the different theories that are floating around as to what the star of Bethleham might have really been. There are a number of theories - supernova, planets in conjunction, etc. It’s all very uncertain, though. The problem is that astronomical records aren’t so great, and the actual date of the birth of Jesus is pretty uncertain. Anyway, she did a nice job!

New Years Eve 2007
Greg and Jodie had everyone over for a new years party on Sunday night. We had fun doing karoke and playing air guitar. I was amazed that the air guitar game actually really was pretty fun. We played some poker, I managed to win 3 dollars on top of the 5 dollar buy-in. We watched Dick Clark bring in the new year, and the ball came down in Times Square!
